Curriculum Vitae
Adem Dervişoğlu was born in 1966 in Rize Çamlıhemşin. After completing his primary and high school education in Ankara; Adem Dervişoğlu started the school of medicine at Ankara University, from which he graduated at the end of 1990. He completed his specialty training, Ph degree, and qualification in medicine at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine in 1997.

Adem Dervişoğlu’s titles and positions in his specialty is listed below:
He worked as a general practitioner in Kelkit Health Center in Gümüşhane in the years from 1990 to 1992.
He worked as a resident in the Department of General Surgery of Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine in the years from 1992 and 1997.
He worked as an academic and lecturer in the Department of General Surgery, in Ondokuz Mayıs University School of Medicine between the years 1998 and 2000.
He worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of General Surgery at Ondokuz Mayıs University School of Medicine in the years from 2000 to 2005. Caiforniya San Francisco Üniversitesi Mount Zion Hospital- Endokrin cerrahi klinik çalışmasında Res.Fellow olarak 01.07.2005- 30.09.2005’görev yapmıştır. He served as Associate Professor in the Department of General Surgery in Ondokuz Mayıs University
School of Medicine in the years from 2005 to 2006. He worked as a research fellow in endocrine surgery in Mount Zion Hospital of San Francisco University in California between the dates 01.07.2005 and 30.09.2005. He has been working as a Professor in General Surgery in the Medical Park Fatih Hospital and at the General Surgery Department of Bahçeşehir University School of Medicine and as the Medical Director in Medical Park Fatih Hospital since the year 2006.

General surgery is one of the important and comprehensive fields of medicine, focusing on many systems of the body including the endocrine system (the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, adrenal gland etc.), digestive system (esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines), pancreas, the liver, bile system, breast diseases, obesity, and trauma, providing medical and surgical treatment in these disease areas.
General surgery works in collaboration with many disciplines because of its wide range of interests. The majority of general surgery patients are cancer cases. General surgery collaborates with Gastroenterology, Radiology / Interventional Radiology, and Medical and Radiation Oncology for diagnosis, surgery, and treatment processes to be performed for these patients.
General surgery is a major and comprehensive specialty branch of medicine; however, it requires further subspecialization on the organs in its areas of interest and on different treatment modalities due to advances in rapidly developing technology and introduced diverse surgical techniques.
Endocrine surgery for the treatment of benign diseases and cancers of the thyroid; surgery for benign tumors of the breast and breast cancers; hepato-pancreato-biliary system surgeries involving the liver, biliary tract, gallbladder, and the pancreas; cancers of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, and the rectum, gallstones and hernias, surgery for anorectal diseases, and obesity surgery aiming for permanent weight control are the areas we have gained in-depth experience.
The General Surgery Department mainly focuses on laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgical procedures besides open surgery. Today’s technology eliminated the need to make large incisions, rendering them unnecessary in many cases. Laparoscopic interventions are becoming increasingly widespread and scientifically accepted. Besides the equipment suitable for advanced laparoscopic surgery procedures, other state-of-the-art instruments such as Ligasure, Argen Koter, and Laser are used in our facilities.
One of the most important treatment modality is surgery in cancer. Surgical oncology plays a major part in cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as performing surgery in the area of cancer for the treatment of the patient.
